In this blog, Jamie McIntosh, newly elected Chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Scotland, talks about his new role.

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising is a key part of my professional life. I’ve been an individual member for 11 years; I’ve studied for 2 qualifications with the Institute’s Academy; and I’ve served as a volunteer on 3 of their Committees.

Following a career in fundraising and marketing, I became Chief Executive of international development organisation, Scottish Love in Action, in 2021. I may no longer have the term ‘fundraising’ in my job title, but I recognise my role is to help fundraising thrive in my organisation.

Right now, it seems like charities face one crisis after another. This is a key time for the fundraising community – fundraisers can help to navigate many of these crises. The pandemic forced the Scottish Executive Committee to pause a lot of our work. With restrictions easing, it’s an exciting time to be stepping up to lead the Executive Committee.

I'm honoured to have been elected Chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Scotland. I look forward to working with Hazel and the Executive Committee - to represent the fundraising community in Scotland, and to deliver the exciting plans we have. Watch this space!
