In this one day course, we will explore the digital landscape and its relevance to fundraising.

Standard Content

There’s no escaping the growth in digital opportunities for charities and fundraisers, and with digital giving growing year on year, charities need to offer a mix of online and offline fundraising opportunities in order to remain competitive. But with so many options available, knowing where to invest time and resources in digital can be a challenge.

This course will help you navigate the digital landscape and understand the relevance of a variety of digital tools and platforms to your fundraising activity. From tools to help you engage with your audience (such as social media and email marketing providers), to services that help you solicit donations, we will look at which can be used at each stage of your fundraising cycle and how they can be used successfully alongside offline fundraising methods. You will leave with an understanding of which digital options would be best for your charity, and a selection of examples, tools, and practices you can use to kickstart your digital fundraising activity.

The Digital Fundraising - Getting Started course was well worth attending. It gave me a greater understanding of the digital fundraising landscape and really bolstered my limited knowledge in areas.

What is covered in this course?
  • Getting started: what the digital landscape looks like
  • How digital marketing relates to fundraising
  • Common tools and platforms to support fundraising
  • Integrating digital into your existing fundraising activity
  • Understanding the best platforms for your charity
Who should attend?

This course is designed for people who are new to digital fundraising and have limited knowledge and experience of online tools, but may have experience in a variety of offline fundraising methods. The course includes content related to digital marketing, acquisition, stewardship and donor journeys, and therefore learners should either be in a fundraising role, or able to influence others to integrate digital approaches into more traditional fundraising.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  1. describe the various elements that make up the digital mix for fundraising,
  2. explain why organisations need to embrace digital methods for fundraising,
  3. consider how you can combine your offline and online fundraising approaches,
  4. reflect on the most relevant tools for your organisation,
  5. understand where to look for additional sources of inspiration and information.
