If you are a fundraiser or managing a fundraising team, this course will enable you to develop and/or improve your fundraising strategy - for your organisation or for your area of responsibility.

Standard Content

Having a clear fundraising strategy is essential to keep your organisation or department on track with its fundraising goals and to get the best returns from your time, effort and budget. Run over two days, this comprehensive course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and techniques to develop and successfully implement a great fundraising strategy, asking and then helping you to answer “Where are you now?” “Where do you want to be?” and “How are you going to get there?”

The two days were really engaging and Gill created a really friendly space where people could openly discuss their thoughts. The two days cover everything from the foundations of writing a fundraising strategy to the details of different tools and analysis needed, so it is perfect for people of every level.

Who should attend?

New or existing managers with responsibility for developing and/or improving fundraising strategy for their area of responsibility or their organisation. Participants will need to have a minimum of one year’s work experience in fundraising.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Develop a fundraising strategy for your organisation/area of responsibility  
  • Identify and use the financial information required to build your strategy  
  • Choose from a range of tools and techniques to analyse past performance to inform future activities  
  • Identify and evaluate the best fundraising sources for your organisation and integrate specific forms of fundraising into your plan  
  • Anticipate the risks associated with the implementation of your strategy and how to apply techniques to help manage these  
  • Differentiate the resource implications of your various fundraising methods and identify the human and other resource requirement for the successful implementation of your strategy.

About your trainer

Gill Jolly FCIOF(Dip) has over 25 years experience in the charity sector, working as a fundraiser, manager, director and trainer of fundraisers and support teams with a wide variety of sizes and types of organisation. She now runs her own consultancy, and works with not-for-profit organisations across the UK and Europe providing a wide range of bespoke fundraising & management consultancy services. Gill has worked with the IoF since 2000 delivering fundraising’s professional qualifications, and leading courses on strategy, management and implementation.
